Bishop Dominique Rey of the Diocese of Fréjus-Toulon, France received the following letter of support for Adoratio 2011 from Mauro Cardinal Piacenza, Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy.
CONGREGATIO PRO CLERICIS
Vatican City, 4 March, 2011
Prot. N. 20103470
The Most Reverend Dominique Rey
Bishop of Fréjus-Toulon
FRANCE
Your Excellency,
I am pleased to offer my encouragement for the upcoming International Conference on Eucharistic Adoration, to be held here in Rome at the Salesianum from 20 to 24 June 2011, and at which I will be honored to celebrate Holy Mass and to preach on 21 June.
We cannot overestimate the importance of adoring the Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament, knowing that worship is the highest act of the People of God and an effective means toward promoting the sanctification of the Clergy, reparation for sin, and vocations to the Priesthood and to the Consecrated Life. With courage, we must ask the Lord to send forth new laborers into the harvest, and in every diocese there should be at least one church, chapel, or shrine set aside for perpetual adoration of the Eucharist, specifically for the intention of the promotion of new vocations and for the sanctification of the Clergy.
I strongly encourage all Bishops, Priests, and members of Religious Institutes to consider participating in this upcoming International Conference. A renewed sense of devotion to Christ in the Eucharist can only enrich every aspect of the Church’s life and mission in the world, for as the Holy Father reminded us in Sacramentum Caritalis, “an authentically Eucharistic Church is a missionary Church,” (no. 84, cf. also Congregation for the Clergy circular letter Missionary Identity of the Priest in the Church, section 3,3, no. 4).
I would like to express my gratitude to Your Excellency for your efforts in promoting this Conference, and to all those who have assisted you. May this event be a true source of grace for all who take part. May it foster in the Church a deeper love for Christ present in the Eucharist.
I take this opportunity to renew my sentiments of collegial esteem and with every best wish, I remain,
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Mauro Card. Piacenza
Prefect
