Mass of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, Virgin
MR
The mercies of the Lord I will sing forever;
from generation to generation
my mouth will proclaim your truth (Ps 88:2).
COLLECT
O God,
who in a wondrous manner
revealed the inexhaustible riches of your mercy
to Saint Maria Faustina,
grant, we beseech you,
that by looking with trust upon the pierced side of your Son
we may be strengthened to show mercy one to another
and, at length, sing forever of your mercy in heaven.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.
GENERAL INTERCESSIONS
That the Holy Spirit may continue to raise up
in the Church humble handmaids of Christ
“chaste virgins presented to one Bridegroom” (2 Cor 11:2),
and confident in His boundless mercy,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
That public authorities
may collaborate with those
who work for the liberation of women and children
entrapped in webs of abuse and prostitution,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
That the Amish families in Pennsylvania
touched by the cruel death of their children
may be comforted;
and that God, in his unfathomable mercy,
may reward the forgiveness they have shown,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
That those alienated from the Church
may be reconciled to her;
and that those most in need of Divine Mercy
may be helped today by the intercession of Saint Faustina,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
That hearts grown hard
in the refusal of forgiveness may be touched by Divine Mercy;
and that those tempted to despair of the Mercy of God
may learn to say with Saint Faustina,
“Jesus, I trust in you,”
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
That it may be given us
to follow the example of Saint Faustina
by drinking deeply from the pierced side of Christ
and by showing one another the mercy
that God has not refused to show us,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
COLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS
Almighty and ever-living God
who revealed to Saint Faustina
the pierced side of your Risen Son
flowing with water and with blood,
grant, through her intercession,
that we may enter into the merciful designs of his Heart
for the salvation of sinners
and for the joy of his one Bride, the Church.
Through Christ our Lord.
OFFERTORY ANTIPHON
GR
How great is the multitude of your sweetness, O Lord,
which you have hidden for them that fear you (Ps 30:20).
PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
Lord, receive the worship that, in our lowliness,
we set before you
on this memorial of the blessed virgin, Faustina;
by this spotless offering,
grant that we may be set ablaze
with a love that is both tender and holy in your sight.
Through Christ our Lord.
PREFACE
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.
Christ spoke to the heart of your virgin, Saint Faustina,
and was received by her as a welcome guest,
a beloved bridegroom espoused in steadfast faith.
Father, in this way, do your wise virgins
prepare themselves and stand with lamps alight,
keeping watch with longing for Christ your Son,
their greatest and highest desire and love.
Accompanying Christ, they praise him,
who is one with you and the Holy Spirit,
the glory of angels with whom we are united
in this, their ageless hymn of praise:
COMMUNION ANTIPHON
MR
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
upon those who fear him (Ps 102:17).
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Refreshed with bread from heaven,
we humbly entreat your mercy, Lord:
may we who rejoice on this memorial of Saint Faustina
receive pardon for our offenses,
health for our bodies,
and grace with endless glory for our souls.
Through Christ our Lord.
