The Litany of Reparation
2 October 2025
Today is our monthly Thursday of reparation for all the affronts offered to the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Among the prayers in our various Mectildian books, there is a Litany of Reparation that, to our knowledge, has never been published in English, and in the spirit of today’s festival, we are happy to be able to translate and post it.
Kyrie, eleison. Christe, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. |
Kyrie, eleison. Christe, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. |
Christe, audi nos. Christe, exaudi nos. |
Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us. |
Pater misericordiarum, miserere nobis. Fili, mediator Dei et hominum, miserere nobis. Spiritus, lumen cordium, miserere nobis. Sancta et individua Trinitas, miserere nobis. |
Father of Mercies, have mercy on us. Son, Mediator of God and men, have mercy on us. Spirit, Light of hearts, have mercy on us. Holy and Undivided Trinity, have mercy on us. |
Hostia sancta, reparatrix pro peccatoribus, miserere nobis. Hostia sancta, pro nobis et a nobis humiliata, miserere nobis. Hostia sancta, a malis christianis comtempta, miserere nobis. Hostia sancta, a blasphemis hominibus subsannata, miserere nobis. Hostia sancta, in templis tuis neglecta et derelicta, miserere nobis. |
Holy Host, reparator for sinners, have mercy on us. Holy Host, humiliated for us and by us, have mercy on us. Holy Host, scorned by bad Christians, have mercy on us. Holy Host, mocked by blaspheming men, have mercy on us. Holy Host, neglected and abandoned in Thy temples, have mercy on us. |
Propitius esto, parce nobis, Domine. Propitius esto, exaudi nos, Domine. Propter indignas corporis et sanguinis tui susceptiones, ingemiscimus, Domine. Propter christianorum irreverentiam, ingemiscimus, Domine. Propter continuam impiorum blasphemiam, ingemiscimus, Domine. Propter stultiloquia facta in templo sancto tuo, ingemiscimus, Domine. |
Be merciful, spare us, O Lord. Be merciful, hear us, O Lord. Because of the unworthy reception of Thy Body and Blood, we anguish, O Lord. Because of the irreverence of Christians, we anguish, O Lord. Because of the continual blasphemy of the ungodly, we anguish, O Lord. Because of foolish talking done in Thy temple, we anguish, O Lord. |
Peccatores, te rogamus, audi nos. Ut nobis parcas, te rogamus, audi nos. Ut nobis indulgeas, te rogamus, audi nos. Ut Sacramentum amoris tui notum facere digneris, te rogamus, audi nos. Ut reparationem nostram in spiritu humilitatis factam respicere digneris, te rogamus, audi nos. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, parce nobis, Domine. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, exaudi nos, Domine. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis. ℣. Vide, Domine, afflictionem nostram. ℟. Et da gloriam Nomini sancto tuo. |
Though sinners, we beseech Thee, hear us. That Thou wouldst spare us, we beseech Thee, hear us. That Thou wouldst pardon us, we beseech Thee, hear us. That Thou wouldst deign to make known the Sacrament of Thy Love, we beseech Thee, hear us. That Thou wouldst deign to have regard towards the reparation we have done in a spirit of humility, we beseech Thee, hear us. ℣. See, O Lord, our affliction. ℟. And give glory to Thy Holy Name. |
OREMUS. Amen. |
Let us pray. O Lord Jesus Christ Who hast preferred to suffer all the affronts of the ungodly rather than to leave the society of Thy Church, grant us both to be able to bewail these injuries with a worthy sorrow and to restore and repair them with all the depths of our love, Thou Who livest and reignest, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. |
Amen. |
Approaching with confidence to the throne of Thy grace, O Lord Jesus, kindly look upon us and hearken so that Thy Glory which, in the Sacrament of Thy Love, suffers unceasing affronts by the ungodly, may also be repaired by the unceasing cult of those serving Thee. Thou Who livest and reignest unto ages of ages. Amen. |
