\nIt is our custom on Emmaus Monday, that is, the Monday of Easter, for the community to go for a long walk in the country in memory of the Risen Jesus’ walk with the disciples on the road to Emmaus. This year the novices only and one of our guests undertook the Emmaus walk, going to Bective Abbey and to Trim Castle.<\/p>\n

\nBefore the Reformation, Trim was the site of the most celebrated Marian pilgrimage<\/a> in Ireland.\u00a0Many and great miracles are said to have been wrought there. The statue of Our Lady of Trymme was publicly burned by Protestant iconoclasts, under Henry VIII, in 1538.<\/p>\n
