Pray to Saint Anthony of Padua<\/strong><\/p>\n

I just spoke to someone in great distress who, having lost something of value while traveling, asked me to pray to Saint Anthony for him. I said the so\u2013called miraculous responsory and would ask my dear readers to take a few moments to do the same. I hereby promise to publish the requested favour when Saint Anthony grants it.<\/p>\n

Si quaeris miracula<\/i> is the final responsory at Matins of the Franciscan Office of Saint Anthony of Padua, the wonder\u2013worker dear to the Catholic faithful everywhere. It is traditionally known as the \u201cmiraculous\u201d responsory, from the once-common custom of reciting it to ask for St. Anthony\u2019s miraculous intervention.<\/p>\n

V. If, then, thou seekest miracles,
\nDeath, error, all calamities,
\nThe leprosy and demons flee,
\nThe sick, by him made whole, arise.<\/p>\n

R. The sea withdraws and fetters break,
\nAnd withered limbs he doth restore,
\nWhile treasures lost are found again,
\nWhen young or old his help implore.<\/p>\n

V. All dangers vanish from our path,
\nOur direst needs do quickly flee:
\nLet those who know repeat the theme:
\nLet Paduans praise St. Anthony.<\/p>\n

\nby the pious invocation of blessed Anthony Thy Confessor:
\nthat she may be evermore defended by Thy spiritual assistance
\nand merit to possess everlasting joy.
