(Pope Benedict XVI, 14 February 2013)<\/big><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The call to adoration and reparation is, at the same time,<br \/>\na call to silence, and to hiddenness,<br \/>\nand to separation from the world.<br \/>\nIt was when Our Lord Jesus Christ was lifted up from the earth,<br \/>\nand held in the narrow enclosure of the Cross,<br \/>\nthat He exercised His priesthood supremely<br \/>\nby offering Himself in sacrifice to His Father.<br \/>\nSuspended upon the Cross,<br \/>\nHe entered into the silence and hiddenness of the Holy of Holies<br \/>\nand, there, He offered Himself as Victim to the Father.<br \/>\nThe mystery of what He was doing was hidden,<br \/>\neven from the eyes of those looking on.<br \/>\nHis disfigured Face, and bruised and bloodied Body<br \/>\ndisplayed nothing of the glory that shone upon Him<br \/>\nin this, the Hour of His sacrifice.<br \/>\nEven His most holy Mother,<br \/>\nwho entered the Holy of Holies with Him<br \/>\nto make her offering in union with His,<br \/>\nsaw and felt nothing of the Divine Glory<br \/>\ninto which His oblation was received by the Father,<br \/>\nin the Holy Spirit.<br \/>\nThe experience of the Mother of Sorrows<br \/>\nwas one of silence, and hiddenness,<br \/>\nand separation from all that surrounded her in that Hour.<br \/>\nMary is the model of all who would unite themselves<br \/>\nto the oblation of Jesus as victims.<br \/>\nWords are useless.<br \/>\nOne must enter in, beyond the veil.<br \/>\nOne must leave behind and outside<br \/>\nall consideration for earthly things.<br \/>\nIn silence, in hiddenness, and in solitude<br \/>\nis Christ&#8217;s one oblation made perfect in souls.<br \/>\nConsent, then, to become silent.<br \/>\nAccept to disappear.<br \/>\nCherish hiddenness.<br \/>\nLeave all behind<br \/>\nto enter with Christ the Priest<br \/>\ninto the inner sanctuary of His oblation to the Father.<br \/>\nEspecially now,<br \/>\nin the light of the Holy Father&#8217;s personal choice,<br \/>\nI see clearly that a monastery of adoration and reparation<br \/>\nmust be characterized by silence,<br \/>\nand by hiddenness,<br \/>\nand by disappearance into the inner sanctuary beyond the veil.<br \/>\nThere, and only there,<br \/>\nwill souls be able to be offered in union with<br \/>\nthe victimhood and priesthood of Jesus,<br \/>\nin a way that gives immense glory to the Father<br \/>\nand saves souls.<br \/>\nLearn from the contemplation of the Sacred Host<br \/>\nhow to be silent,<br \/>\nhow to disappear,<br \/>\nhow to leave the world.<br \/>\nLook at Our Lord in the Sacrament of His redeeming love.<br \/>\nIs He not silent?<br \/>\nIs He not hidden?<br \/>\nIs He not separated from all things and, at the same time,<br \/>\npresent to all things?<br \/>\nThis is the pattern of our life here.<br \/>\nPrefer it to all else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Crucifix of San Gimignano (Benedetto da Maiano,1442-1497) And although I am about to withdraw, I remain close to all of you in prayer, and I am sure that you too will be close to me, even if I am hidden from the world.
