The prayer that I was moved to make today, as a kind of <em>amende honorable<\/em> to Jesus in His adorable innocence in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, is one, I think, that Pierre de B\u00e9rulle would have understood and made his own.<\/small><br \/>\n<strong>Lord Jesus Christ<\/strong>,<br \/>\nThou, innocent Lamb of God;<br \/>\nThou, pure Victim, Holy Victim, Immaculate Victim,<br \/>\nI adore Thee who art present here<br \/>\nwith all the love of my heart,<br \/>\nand I thank Thee that, from this altar, even now,<br \/>\nThou art offering Thyself to the Father<br \/>\nas the sacrifice of propitiation<br \/>\nthat destroys the sin of the world<br \/>\nand restores poor sinners to friendship with God,<br \/>\nnot by changing Thy Father&#8217;s Heart,<br \/>\nbut by opening the hearts of poor sinners<br \/>\nto receive His pardon, His mercy, and His grace.<br \/>\nDo Thou open hearts long closed by sin.<br \/>\nDo Thou deliver souls languishing in darkness<br \/>\nand in the shadow of death.<br \/>\nDo Thou set free souls bound in the fetters and chains<br \/>\nforged by Satan and his hateful allies.<br \/>\nDo Thou give sight to the blind,<br \/>\nmovement to the paralyzed,<br \/>\nhearing to the deaf,<br \/>\nand tenderness to the stony-hearted.<br \/>\nUnite me to Thyself,<br \/>\nand, by Thy Virgin Mother&#8217;s prayers,<br \/>\nso make me one sacrifice with Thee,<br \/>\nthat I may appear before the Father,<br \/>\nconsumed in the flames of Thy holocaust,<br \/>\nand made pure in the fire of love<br \/>\nthat ever burns in Thy Eucharistic Heart.
