\"1208expsicion-inmac-dogm-2004-RAFAES-98145614872.jpg\"<\/a>At the end of Holy Mass today, we renewed the devotional election of the Immaculate Virgin Mary as Abbess and Queen of our monastery, a practice well rooted in monastic history, and one that unites us in a particular way, not only to the daughters of Mother Mectilde de Bar, but also to the monks of Mount Athos who venerate the All-Holy Mother of God as Abbess of the Holy Mountain.
\n<\/small>
\nO Immaculate Virgin Mary,
\nall-lovely, and conceived without sin,
\nin the name of the community such as it is today,
\nand such as it shall be in time to come,
\nI solemnly reaffirm
\nthat thou, the true Mother of God, more honorable than the cherubim,
\nand beyond compare more glorious than the seraphim.
\nart forever elected, named, and recognized
\nas the ever-worthy, glorious,
\nand sovereign Lady and Abbess of this monastery,
\nthat is, of all the monasteries dedicated to thee,
\nthe most fragile and the most in need of the care and attention
\nof thy maternal Heart.<\/p>\n

With profound humility and confidence,
\nI beg thee, in thy most tender pity
\nto take this struggling and vulnerable infant monastery
\nunder thy singular care and special protection,
\nand to obtain for us
\nthe incomparable grace of the Divine Friendship
\nof the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
\nin fidelity to the Rule of Saint Benedict
\nand to the mission of adoration, reparation, and charity for priests,
\nbestowed upon us by the Father of lights,
\nfrom whom descends every good gift.<\/p>\n

I further offer to thy maternal Heart O sovereign Lady and Abbess
\nall who have assisted this little monastery
\nby their presence, their labour, their prayers,
\nand their material support,
\nasking thee to extend the veil of thy holy protection and perpetual help
\nover them and over their families, their loved ones,
\ntheir homes, and their places of work and business.<\/p>\n

Receive us, then, all-holy and merciful Mother of Jesus Christ,
\nas thy servants and as sons of thine own household.
\nMake thou full use of thy rights and of thy power over us,
\nand over the temporal and spiritual affairs of this house,
\nlest thine own honour be mocked,
\nand thy house looked upon with scorn,
\nand thy sons derided.<\/p>\n

We accept and avow that Thou art our sovereign Lady,
\nour Abbess, and our Queen,
\nand by this act renewed today in view of thy Divine Son,
\nof the choirs of angels,
\nof Saint Joseph, Saint John, our father Saint Benedict,
\nand of all the saints,
\nwe bind ourselves to depend upon thee,
\nand look to thee for all things.<\/p>\n

We renew into thy hands the sacred vows of our baptism,
\nand those of monastic profession,
\nasking thee to fashion us
\ninto true adorers of the Eucharistic Face of Jesus,
\nand consolers of His Eucharistic Heart.
\nO Holy Mother of God,
\nwe beseech thee with all the humility possible
\nto continue in the office to which we have elected thee,
\nand to rule over, protect, and provide for this house
\nand for those who dwell herein now
\nand will dwell herein in the days to come,
\nso that Jesus, the Lamb of God, immolated and forever living,
\npresent in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar,
\nmay be forever praised and adored
\nin our hearts and in the sanctuary of this monastery which is all thine.
