D. Benedict served as subdeacon.  Following Benediction, I gave a conference to a large group of the faithful, many of them pilgrims attending the 50th International Eucharistic Congress.  After my conference, a number of people approached me at the tea in the parish hall, asking me to pray for particular persons, needs, or situations.  This happens, I think, whenever a monk appears in public.  I took all of these intentions, and others as well, before the Eucharistic Face of Jesus today.<\/small><br \/>\nO my beloved Lord Jesus,<br \/>\nI offer to Thy most compassionate Heart,<br \/>\nand to the Maternal Heart of Thy Immaculate Mother,<br \/>\nall the sufferings that have been made known to me<br \/>\nduring these past days.<br \/>\nThou knowest each one.<br \/>\nNo suffering of ours is hidden from Thee,<br \/>\nand Thy most loving gaze enfolds<br \/>\neach man, woman, and child in this valley of tears.<br \/>\nI can only turn to Thee and to Thy Mother,<br \/>\nas others have turned to me,<br \/>\nasking for my prayers.<br \/>\nAll these requests I received into my own heart,<br \/>\nthough it be sinful, poor, and too small to absorb them.<br \/>\nHaving promised to pray<br \/>\nfor particular persons or intentions,<br \/>\nI place these needs now in Thy Eucharistic Heart,<br \/>\nentrusting them to the Immaculate Heart of Thy Mother,<br \/>\nand to her all-powerful supplication<br \/>\nin Thy sight and in the sight of Thy Father<br \/>\nand my Father.<br \/>\nAmen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last evening, I was the celebrant at Solemn High Mass, followed by Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament with the sung Litany of the Sacred Heart, at Saint Kevin&#8217;s Church, Harrington Street, Dublin.
