Our local Oblates, layfolk belonging to the monastery&#8217;s extended family, will gather at 3:30 p.m. for a conference on the Rule of Saint Benedict followed by Vespers and Eucharistic adoration.  Vespers are sung in Latin and in Gregorian Chant.  Today the psalmody and the reading will be in English.  Here is the Office as we will celebrate it this evening.<\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Sunday at Second Vespers<\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Fifth Sunday of Pascha<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><small><em>Our guests are invited join in chanting the parts of the Office that are in English, and to listen to the parts that are in Latin.<\/em><\/small><br \/>\n<strong>PSALM 109<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Christ has taken His place as our high priest, to win us blessings that still lie in the future. (Hebrews 9:11)<\/em><br \/>\n<u>Antiphon<\/u><br \/>\nI saw the Lamb standing upon the mountain, and from beneath his feet flowed forth a living spring, alleluia.<br \/>\nThe Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand *<br \/>\nwhile I make your enemies a footstool under your feet.<br \/>\nThe Lord will make your sceptre spring up like a branch out of \tSion; *<br \/>\nYou are to bear rule in the midst of your enemies.<br \/>\nFrom birth, princely state shall be yours, *<br \/>\nin the brightness of the saints;<br \/>\nFrom the womb before the morning-star, *<br \/>\n&#8211;I begot you.<br \/>\nThe Lord has sworn an oath there is no retracting; *<br \/>\nYou are a priest for ever according to the order of \tMelchisedech.<br \/>\nAt your right hand, the Lord will shatter kings *<br \/>\nin the day of His wrath;<br \/>\nHe will pass sentence on the nations,<br \/>\nheap high the bodies, *<br \/>\nscatter far and wide the heads of the slain.<br \/>\nNow that He has drunk of the brook by the wayside, *<br \/>\nHe will lift up His head in victory.<br \/>\nGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, *<br \/>\nand to the Holy Spirit.<br \/>\nAs it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, *<br \/>\nworld without end.  Amen.<br \/>\n<strong>PSALM 110<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>How rich God is in mercy, with what an excess of love He loved us. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.&#8221; And he who sat upon the throne said, &#8220;Behold, I make all things new.&#8221;<br \/>\nR.
