Jesu, Dulcis Memoria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus to cast one thought upon
\nMakes gladness after He is gone,
\nBut more than honey and honeycomb
\nIs to come near and take Him home.<\/p>\n

No music so can touch the ear,
\nNo news is heard of such sweet cheer,
\nThought half so dear there is not one
\nAs Jesus God the Father’s Son.<\/p>\n

Jesu, their hope who go astray,
\nSo kind to those who ask the way,
\nSo good to those who look for Thee,
\nTo those who find what must Thou be?<\/p>\n

To speak of that no tongue will do
\nNor letters suit to spell it true:
\nBut they can guess who have tasted of
\nWhat Jesus is and what is love.<\/p>\n

Jesu, a springing well Thou art,
\nDaylight to head and treat to heart,
\nAnd matched with Thee there’ nothing glad
\nThat men have wished for or have had.<\/p>\n

Wish us Good Morning when we wake
\nAnd light us, Lord, with Thy day-break.
\nBeat from our brains the thicky night
\nAnd fill the world up with delight.<\/p>\n

Who taste of Thee will hunger more,
\nWho drink be thirsty as before:
\nWat else to ask they never know
\nBut Jesus’ self they love Him so.<\/p>\n

\nAnd drinks of heaven in the breast.<\/p>\n

Thou art the hope, Jesu, my sweet,
\nThe soul has in its sighing-fit;

Be our delight, O Jesu, now
\nAs by and by our prize art Thou,
\nAnd grant our glorying may be
