\nI am especially mindful today of all who devote themselves to the service of the poor in the Catholic Charities<\/a> of the Diocese of Tulsa, of the Lazarist Fathers, of my good friend Lisa Hoffer on her birthday, and of kind Sister Elma and the other Daughters of Charity at St. Mary’s Hostel, Knock, County Mayo.<\/em><\/p>\n

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
\nMR
\nThe Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
\nbecause he has anointed me
\nto preach good news to the poor,
\nand to heal the contrite of heart (cf. Lk 4:18).<\/p>\n

COLLECT
\nO God, who for the salvation of the poor
\nand the instruction of the clergy
\nendowed the blessed priest Vincent with apostolic virtues,
\ngrant, we pray,
\nthat inflamed by that same spirit,
\nwe may both loved what he loved
\nand carry out what he taught.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
\nGod, forever and ever.<\/p>\n

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS
\nFor the Church throughout the world;
\nthat she may be renewed in the charity that comes from God
\nand, in every age, inflames the hearts of His saints,

\nFor the leaders of nations and for public servants;
\nthat, like Saint Vincent de Paul,
\nthey may be moved to relieve suffering
\nwherever it is found,

\nFor those who are exploited and oppressed,
\nfor the victims of war and of terrorism,
\nfor prisoners, for the homeless and for those without work;
\nthat Christians may offer them effective relief
\nand the comfort of a hope that does not disappoint,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
\nFor the Vincentian Fathers, the Daughters of Charity,
\nand all who walk in the footsteps of Saint Vincent de Paul;
\nthat, faithful to his charism,
\nthey may see the Face of Christ and serve him humbly
\nin the poor and the sick,
\nin abandoned children and in all who suffer,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
\nFor our own conversion of heart;
\nthat, through the intercession of Saint Vincent de Paul,
\nwe may walk in the path of holy trust
\nin the unfailing providence of God,

\nAlmighty and merciful God,
\nwho raised up Saint Vincent de Paul
\nto show your love to the poor,

\nand zeal for the extension of your Kingdom.

\nO God, who gave Saint Vincent
\nthe grace to imitate what he held in his hands
\nwhen he celebrated the divine mysteries,
\ngrant that, by the power of this sacrifice,
\nwe too may pass over into an offering acceptable to you.

\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
\nthrough Christ our Lord.
\nTo the poor Christ proclaimed mercy and salvation.
\nHe desired to share completely in our human frailty,
\nhumbling himself to be like us in all things.
\nYour servant Saint Vincent followed Christ
\nalong this path of self-denial,
\nreceiving the poor and afflicted
\nas his brothers and sisters
\nand giving witness before the world
\nto your boundless love for us.
\nAnd now, as we celebrate his memory
\nwe join the hosts of angels and saints
\nin their exultant hymn of praise:<\/p>\n

\nLet them praise the Lord for his mercy,
\nfor his wonderful works to the sons of men;

\nwe humbly implore,
\nthat the example of Saint Vincent
\nmay challenge us to imitate your Son
