It is part of his Consecration to the Holy Trinity:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>O Holy Spirit,<br \/>\nLove of the Father and of the Son,<br \/>\nestablish Thyself as a furnace of love in the centre of our hearts,<br \/>\nand ever transport on high our thoughts, our affections, and our actions,<br \/>\nlike ardent flames,<br \/>\neven into the bosom of the Father.<br \/>\nLet our entire life be a <em>Gloria Patri,<br \/>\net Filio, et Spiritui Sancto<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Virginie Danion (1819\u20131900) founded the Community of Thanksgiving (<em>L&#8217;Action de Gr\u00e2ces<\/em>) of Mauron in France. At the end of the Octave of Pentecost she writes, &#8220;Oh! How I would want to prolong this week of the Holy Spirit! With what regret do it see it come to an end.&#8221; Then she addresses the Holy Spirit:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>O Holy Spirit, soul of my soul, heart of my heart,<br \/>\nI want always to find Thee in the most intimate place of my being.<br \/>\nIn this humble and hidden sanctuary thou wilt not be forsaken;<br \/>\nno longer wilt thou remain inactive,<br \/>\nand all that is within me shall obey Thee.<br \/>\nIt is true that my wickedness, my faults, and my miseries<br \/>\nwill often oppose Thee,<br \/>\nbut Thou, all-powerful, wilt overturn, or break, or annihilate<br \/>\nall that would rise up against Thee.<br \/>\nThe abyss that is Thine shall fill up the abyss that is mine.<br \/>\n<em>Abyssus abyssum invocat<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I find that Virginie Danion&#8217;s prayer has, however remotely, something of John Donne&#8217;s magnificent Holy Sonnet XIV:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Batter my heart, three person&#8217;d God; for, you<br \/>\nAs yet but knocke, breathe, shine, and seeke to mend;<br \/>\nThat I may rise, and stand, o&#8217;erthrow mee,&#8217;and bend<br \/>\nYour force, to breake, blowe, burn and make me new.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blessed Columba Marmion (1858\u20131923) wrote this prayer to the Holy Spirit at the Abbey of Mont-C\u00e9sar in Louvain on Christmas 1908.
