\"ND<\/a>Our Lady of the Cenacle
\n<\/strong>Many years ago and long before I had any idea that I would one day play a role in establishing a monastery under the patronage of Our Lady of the Cenacle, I was searching out the treasures of my missal, and discovered, among the Masses for Certain Places<\/em>, the Mass of Our Lady of the Cenacle<\/strong> for the Saturday within the Octave of the Ascension. The Proper texts of the Mass stirred my heart.<\/p>\n

The Mass for today’s feast was composed and approved in 1886 at the request of Mother Marie-Aim\u00e9e Lautier, Superior General of the Congregation of the Cenacle. (The humble foundress of the Society of Our Lady of the Cenacle, Saint Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Couderc<\/a>, died in 1885.) It is a pity that, with Ascension Thursday being observed in so many places on the following Sunday, both the Pentecost Novena and the feast of Our Lady of the Cenacle are adversely affected.<\/p>\n

Collect
\n<\/strong>Deus, qui beatam Mariam semper Virginem matrem tuam
\nin Cenaculi solitudine cum discipulis orantem
\nSancti Spiritus donis cumulasti:
\nfac nos, quaesumus, cordis recessum diligere;
\nut sic rectius orantes
\nSpiritus Sancti gratiis repleri mereamur.<\/em><\/p>\n

O God, who, in the solitude of the Cenacle, didst fill with the gifts of the Holy Ghost
\nBlessed Mary ever Virgin, Thy mother, united in prayer with Thy disciples;
\ngrant that we may so love to withdraw into the secret places of the heart
\nthat by praying aright,
\nwe may be made worthy to be filled with these graces in abundance.
\nWho with God the Father livest and reignest
\nin the unity of the same Holy Ghost,
\none God, world without end.<\/p>\n

Secret or Prayer Over the Oblations
\n<\/strong>Haec sacra, Domine, tibi in honorem beatae Mariae Virginis Matris tuae litantes.
\nhumiliter petimus,
\nut sicut ipsa verba tua sancta in corde suo sollicite servavit,
\nnobis quoque ejus intercessione concedas,
\nita in lege tua assidue meditari,
\nut fidelius opere implere eam valeamus.<\/em><\/p>\n

Offering Thee, O Lord,
\nthese sacred gifts in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary Thy mother,
\nwe humbly ask that,
\nby the example and intercession of her
\nwho carefully kept Thy holy words in her heart,
\nwe too may meditate Thy law assiduously,
\nso as to put it into practice more faithfully.<\/p>\n

Postcommunion
\n<\/strong>Deus, qui fideles tuos in Cenaculi recessu cum Maria Matre tua sacratissima
\nperseverantes et unanimes in oratione effecisti:
\npraesta, quaesumus;
\nut his quoque donis ornati et a saeculi strepitu segregati,
\ntibi soli in caritate perfecta vivamus.<\/em><\/p>\n

O God, who to thy faithful withdrawn in the Cenacle,
\ndidst grant perseverance in prayer in oneness of heart
\nwith Mary, Thy most holy Mother,
\ngrant, we beseech Thee, that we also,
\ngraced with the same gift
\nand separated from the noise of the world,
