\"Eucharist_in_Fruit_Wreath\"<\/a><\/span>A Meditation for Corpus Domini<\/em>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Remember all the desert way
\nthrough which the Lord your God has brought you:
\nforty years of willful wandering.
\nRemember the affliction and the testing.
\nRemember the great and terrible wilderness
\nwherein there was the serpent burning with his breath,
\nand the scorpions.
\nRemember the thirsty ground where there was no water.
\nRemember who brought you water out of the flinty rock.
\nRemember who fed you in the wilderness
\nwith manna which your fathers did not know (cf. Dt 8:15-16).<\/p>\n

Remember, and out of your remembering
\ngive voice to the great thanksgiving
\nthat is what we have in common — O joy! — with all the saints.
\nRemember the sustenance in full ears of wheat, his gift to you.
\nRemember the honey dripping from the rock to your heart’s content (cf. Ps. 80:17).<\/p>\n

Remember, and out of your remembering
\nlet praises spring high and sweet and clear.
\nPraises to fill full the church, but even that is not enough.
\nPraises pouring out the doors,
\npraises streaming in procession,
\ntouching every blade of grass and every leaf.
\nPraises stretching into the vastness of the sky overhead,
\npraises sinking deep into the earth,
\npraises sent like sparks to the East and to the West, to the North and to the South,
\npraises to inflame the cosmos with Eucharistic fire.<\/p>\n

Remember, Mother Church, the holy and venerable hands,
\nthe hands that, taking bread, broke and gave it,
\nthe hands that have strengthened the bolts of your gates,
\nthe hands that blessed your children within you (cf. Ps 147:12).
\nRemember the voice of him whose word runs swiftly,
\nblessing and saying, \u201cTake and eat, this is my Body\u201d;
\n\u201cThis chalice is the new testament in my Blood\u201d (cf. 1 Cor 11:24-25).<\/p>\n

Remember the Crucified, the Risen One, the Lord of glory
\nwhose Face alone plants peace in your borders,
\nwhose Heart would save your souls from death,
\nand feed you in time of famine (cf. Ps 32:19).
\nRemember his hands, his Face, and his Heart,
\nremember his words on the night before he suffered,
\nand out of your remembering, let praise come to flower on your lips.
\nPraise to fill that Upper Room,
\npraise to fill the Church,
\npraise to fall like a balm on every heart that has forgotten
\nthe language of the Great Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

Remember the chalice of blessing
\nand adore the Blood of Christ.
\nRemember the bread laid bare upon the fair linen
\nRemember the one Bread by which we, though many, are made one (cf. 1 Cor 10:16-17).
\nRemember the chalice of the Blood
\nin which every tear of yours dissolves into joy.
\nRemember the broken Bread by which every brokenness of yours is made whole.
\nRemember the chalice offered to those who have nothing to offer.
\nRemember the Bread given to those who have nothing to give.
\nRemember, and into your remembering
\nwelcome the immensity of a silence that seeks only to adore.
\nTacere et adorare!<\/em><\/p>\n

Adoring silence: liturgy of the angels, language of the prophets, poem of the saints.
\nAdoring silence: Eucharistic amazement too deep, too wide, too high for words.
\nAdoring silence spread like a mantle over the sighs and groans of a world
\nthat has forgotten to be still in the presence of the Word.
\nAdoring silence, well-kept secret of a ceaseless jubilation.
\nAdoring silence, hidden from the learned and the clever.
\nAdoring silence cherished by the little ones.
\n\u201cYes, Father, for such is Thy gracious will\u201d (cf. Lk 10:21).<\/p>\n

Remember the living Bread which came down from heaven
\nand eating that Bread, be assumed even now into future glory.
\nRemember the Flesh of the Word given
\nin a mystery of word and Spirit, handed over in the Upper Room
\nRemember the Flesh of the Word lifted to the Father from the altar of the Cross.
\nRemember the Flesh of the Word drawing all flesh to itself
\ndivine Flesh for the children of Adam,
\nhealing Flesh for Eve\u2019s sorrowing children,
\nGod\u2019s very Flesh for the life of the world.
\nRemember, and adore.<\/p>\n

Remember the chalice that flows and overflows,
\nthe chalice of salvation, the cup of your surpassing joy.
\nRemember the Blood gushing with the water
\nfrom the Open Side.
\nRemember the Heart\u2019s Blood that to your hearts carries life.
\nRemember the Chalice that leaves on every tongue the taste of eternity,
\nand on your lips the lingering sweetness of the Kiss of the Mouth of God.
\nRemember the fire-filled Chalice,
\nthe Chalice spilling Spirit into every open mouth.<\/p>\n

Remember Him on whom you feed;
\nsee him held before your eyes,
\nraised to the Father in the Holy Spirit,
\nheld out to you, his hunger meeting yours.
\nRemember, and pronounce the \u201cAmen\u201d for which he waits.
\nThe Amen of your wonder,
\nthe Amen of your joy,
\nthe Amen of your adoring silence.
\nAnd listen closely.
\nTo that Amen of yours the Angels add their Alleluia.
\nAmen, Alleluia.<\/p>\n

O Eucharistic adoration of heaven and of earth!
\nAmen, Alleluia.
\nSaying all that can be said.
\nAmen, Alleluia.
\nO Eucharistic song!
\nAmen, Alleluia.
\nSong of angels praising
\nand of archangels shining together with thrones;
\nsong of dominations bowing low,
\nand of the awestruck powers;
\nsong of the incandescent seraphim,
\nand of the heavenly hosts of every rank adoring.
\nAmen, Alleluia.<\/p>\n

Song of the Church today.
\nSong of the saints dazzling with Christ-Beauty,
\nsong of the least of his brethren
\nsummoned today to stand in his presence,
\ndriven by the Spirit to walk before him,
\ncompelled by love to kneel and to adore.
