margin-left: 20px; margin-bottom: 20px;\"  \/><br \/>\nAlleluia!<br \/>\nToday the Spirit of the Lord has invaded the cosmos and filled it!<br \/>\nLife spills out of the Cenacle<br \/>\nand, like a torrent of wine,<br \/>\ncourses through the streets of Jerusalem.<br \/>\nGod arises and His enemies are scattered;<br \/>\nthose that hate Him flee before his face,<br \/>\nand those that love Him sing: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday He who came down to see Babel&rsquo;s tower<br \/>\nand confused the speech of the proud<br \/>\nvisits the Upper Room.<br \/>\nHe unties the tongues of the humble<br \/>\nand unites into one holy people those long divided by sin.<br \/>\nAmazed at what she sees and hears,<br \/>\nthe Church intones her birthday song: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday He who on Sinai descended in fire,<br \/>\ncausing rocks to quake and peaks to pale,<br \/>\ndescends upon Jerusalem;<br \/>\ntongues of fire dance over the heads of those<br \/>\nwho, cloistered in the Cenacle, waited to meet their God<br \/>\nand at His coming, they cry out: Alleluia.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nToday the valley of dry bones<br \/>\nbegins to stir, to rattle, and to reverberate.<br \/>\nBehold, I will cause the Spirit to enter you,<br \/>\nand you shall live:<br \/>\nand they lived and stood upon their feet,<br \/>\nan exceeding great host<br \/>\nsinging: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday the Cenacle sealed like tomb<br \/>\nopens, a joyful Mother&rsquo;s fruitful womb.<br \/>\nNone was ever born of the Spirit<br \/>\nwho did not take his birth from her,<br \/>\nand each, claiming from her the springs of his life,<br \/>\ncalls her forever glorious, repeating: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday the Spirit is poured out in superabundance;<br \/>\ntoday sons and daughters prophesy;<br \/>\ntoday old men dream dreams and young men see visions;<br \/>\ntoday menservants and maidservants<br \/>\njoin the choir to chant with one many-tongued voice: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday the Virgin whom the Spirit covered with His shadow<br \/>\nis wrapped in Love and crowned in flame.<br \/>\nToday the Woman who interceded at Cana<br \/>\ntastes New Wine, for the Hour has come.<br \/>\nToday the Mother who stood watching by the Tree<br \/>\nremembers the stream of water and of blood<br \/>\nand filled with sweetness, cries: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday the Spirit helps us in our weakness<br \/>\nand we who do not know to pray as we ought,<br \/>\npray in a way that is wonderful and new;<br \/>\nfor now the Spirit Himself intercedes for us<br \/>\nwith sighs too deep for words.<br \/>\nIn the valley of the shadow of death<br \/>\nthere rises the canticle of life: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday, for the poor there is a Father,<br \/>\nfor the destitute a Treasury,<br \/>\nfor hearts grown dark  an inblazing of brightness.<br \/>\nToday, for those who weep there comes the Best of Comforters,<br \/>\nfor the lonely, there arrives a gentle Guest,<br \/>\nfor the worn and weary there is a refreshment so sweet<br \/>\nthat even they begin to sing: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday, for workers there is repose,<br \/>\nfor those scorched in the heat of discord, refreshment,<br \/>\nfor those brought low by too great a weight of sorrow, solace,<br \/>\nand for those with tears to shed,<br \/>\na chalice ready to receive them.<br \/>\nToday there is no one who cannot say: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday, even where there is nothing good<br \/>\nGoodness elects to dwell;<br \/>\nand where there is nothing holy<br \/>\nHoliness makes a tabernacle,<br \/>\nso that the broken, the sad, and the powerless<br \/>\nfind their voices to sing: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday, there is a balm for every wound,<br \/>\na dew sprinkled over every dryness;<br \/>\na cleansing water for every stain.<br \/>\nToday, the stubborn heart learns to bend<br \/>\nand the stiff spine learns to bow.<br \/>\nIn the twinkling of an eye the frozen are thawed<br \/>\nand icy hearts warmed through and through,<br \/>\nmaking them declare as never before: Alleluia!<br \/>\nToday there are Seven Gifts<br \/>\nlavishly given for each according to his need:<br \/>\nWisdom for the foolish,<br \/>\nUnderstanding for the dull,<br \/>\nCounsel for the hesitant,<br \/>\nFortitude for the weak,<br \/>\nPiety for the feckless,<br \/>\nand Fear of the Lord for those who have forgotten to adore,<br \/>\nsaying humbly: Alleluia<br \/>\nToday for sinners there is forgiveness,<br \/>\nfor the stranger a home,<br \/>\nfor the hungry a Holy Table,<br \/>\nfor the thirsty a river of living water,<br \/>\nand for every mouth the long-awaited Kiss.<br \/>\nToday heaven is poured over the face of the earth,<br \/>\nwhile the children of men in amazement sing: Alleluia!
