I don&#8217;t know if I will be able to do it while in France.  Here is a magnificent text from our Cistercian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newadvent.org\/cathen\/01134a.htm\">Adam of Perseigne<\/a>.  The last lines \u2014 at least for me \u2014 bring to mind Our Mother of Perpetual Succour.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/vultuschristi.org\/aaolphicon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"aaolphicon.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/vultuschristi.org\/aaolphicon-thumb.jpg\" width=\"290\" height=\"359\" style=\"float:right; margin-left: 20px; margin-bottom: 20px;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>If your faith is shaken by assault from an enemy<br \/>\nturn your eyes to the Virgin<br \/>\nand what was wavering will be firmly fixed.<br \/>\nIf the lust of the flesh delights you<br \/>\nturn your gaze to the Virgin<br \/>\nand the danger to your chastity will be removed.<br \/>\nIf pride disturbs your spirit<br \/>\nturn your gaze to the Virgin<br \/>\nand by the merit of her unsullied humility<br \/>\nyour swelling spirit will subside.<br \/>\nIf you are set on fire by anger&#8217;s torches,<br \/>\nlift your eyes to the Virgin<br \/>\nand you will grow gentle through her calm.<br \/>\nIf ignorance or error have led you astray from the way of life,<br \/>\nlook to Mary, Star of the Sea,<br \/>\nand in her light you will be led back to the path of truth.<br \/>\nIf the vice of avarice commands your idolatrous worship,<br \/>\ncall to mind the generosity of the Virgin<br \/>\nand with a love of poverty there will come to you<br \/>\nthe goodness of openhandedness.<br \/>\nIn every peril<br \/>\nthe goodness of the Virgin comes to succour<br \/>\nand power to succour it is.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I more or less promised Our Lady that I would offer something in her honour on Vultus Christi every day during the month of May.
