Amen.<\/em><br \/>\nSaint Agatha shines today as the fifth star in the Church&#8217;s winter constellation of women martyrs, all of whom are named in the venerable Roman Canon:<br \/>\nCecily, Virgin Martyr \u2014 22 November<br \/>\nLucy, Virgin Martyr \u2014 13 December<br \/>\nAnastasia, Virgin Martyr \u2014 25 December<br \/>\nAgnes, Virgin Martyr \u2014 21 January<br \/>\nAgatha, Virgin Martyr \u2014 5 February<br \/>\nPerpetua and Felicity, Martyrs \u2014 6 March<br \/>\nGENERAL INTERCESSIONS<br \/>\nThat the Church in every place,<br \/>\nmade radiant by the example of Saint Agatha<br \/>\nand so many other virgin martyrs,<br \/>\nmay remain steadfast in the love of Christ<br \/>\nand so present to the eyes of the world<br \/>\nthe witness of a joyful fidelity to her Bridegroom,<br \/>\n<em>to the Lord we pray, Christ, hear us.  R.  Christ, graciously hear us.<\/em><br \/>\nThat, with reverence for the mystery of life,<br \/>\nthe leaders of nations<br \/>\nmay promote the dignity of women in society,<br \/>\n<em>to the Lord we pray, Christ, hear us.  R.  Christ, graciously hear us.<\/em><br \/>\nThat, following the example of Saint Agatha,<br \/>\nthe sick may place their hope in Christ<br \/>\nwho by his word alone restores all things;<br \/>\nand that women afflicted with cancer of the breast<br \/>\nmay find in Saint Agatha an intercessor and friend,<br \/>\n<em>to the Lord we pray, Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.<\/em><br \/>\nThat we,<br \/>\napproaching the adorable mysteries of Christ&rsquo;s Body and Blood,<br \/>\nmay seek the healing that goes forth from him<br \/>\nto deliver us from evil and strengthen us for good,<br \/>\n<em>to the Lord we pray, Christ, hear us.
