\nDrop down dew, you heavens, from above,
\nand let the clouds rain down the Just One:
\nlet the earth be opened and bud forth a Saviour (Is 45:8).
\nCOLLECT
\nPour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord,
\nThy grace into our hearts,
\nthat we, to whom the incarnation of Christ Thy Son,
\nwas made known by the message of an angel,
\nmay by His passion and cross
\nbe brought to the glory of His resurrection.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son,
\nwho with Thee lives and reigns
\nin the unity of the Holy Spirit,
\nGod forever and ever.<\/p>\n


\nGENERAL INTERCESSIONS
\nThat the Church in every place
\nmay be graced with the faith of the Blessed Virgin Mary
\nto conceive and bear the Word, and, in obedience to the Holy Spirit,
\nhasten to carry the hidden Christ into every human situation,
\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near. (Pause for silence.)
\nThat world leaders of good will,
\nsupported by the prayer of Jews and Gentiles alike,
\nmay seek peace and mercy
\nfor the hill country blessed by the steps of the Christ-bearing Virgin
\nand for the entire Middle East,
\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near. (Pause for silence.)
\nThat she who, in the little space of her womb,
\nenclosed the Creator of the heavens
\nmay visit those most in need of her presence today:
\nto cheer the lonely,
\nto reconcile the estranged,
\nto heal the sick,
\nand to comfort the dying,
\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near. (Pause for silence.)
\nThat expectant mothers
\nmay cherish and reverence the gift of life entrusted to them
\nand, like Elizabeth, and the Virgin Mary, come to rejoice in their children,
\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near. (Pause for silence.)
\nThat as we rejoice in the Visitation of the Virgin,
\nwe may allow the Word to germinate within us
\nuntil, under the action of the Holy Spirit,
\npraise becomes our very life and breath,
\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near. (Pause for silence.)

\nO God, Saviour of mankind,
\nwho by the visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
\nthe ark of the new covenant,
\ndidst bring salvation to the house of Elizabeth,
\ngrant, we beseech Thee,
\nthat, by yielding to the breath of the Holy Spirit,
\nwe may even now rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy
\nin the light of the Face of Thy Christ
\nand, gladdened by the company of the Virgin Mother,

\nTruly it is right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give Thee thanks,
\nand with the invocation of Thy wonderful works
\nto celebrate this festival of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
\nFrom her womb, the fruit has flowered
\nwho fills us with the very bread of angels.
\nWhat Eve had lost by her transgression,
\nMary has restored for our salvation.
\nFrom one motherhood flows a bitter guilt;
\nfrom the same motherhood, the advent of the Saviour.
\nWhere once the tempter had prevailed,
\nnow comes a Redeemer as his powerful foe.
\nFrom a mortal birth arises the Creator
\nwho leads the human race from slavery to freedom,
\nand that which is lost to us in our father Adam
\nis now restored once more by Christ our Maker.
\nWith Thee, the all-powerful Father
\nand with the Holy Spirit,
\nChrist is the praise of angels and archangels,
\nthe acclaim of heavenly powers,
\nthe glory of cherubim and seraphim;
\nwith these, we pray Thee, join our voices,
\nin this, their hymn of joyful supplication:

\nBehold, a Virgin shall conceive and bear a Son,
\nwhose name shall be Emmanuel (Is 7:14).
\nPRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
\nAlmighty God,
\nfilled already with the pledge of eternal redemption,
\nwe ask that,
\nas we draw nearer to the festival of our salvation,
\nwe may grow in devotion
\nso as to celebrate worthily
\nthe mystery of the nativity of Thy Son.
\nThrough Christ our Lord.
\nSOLEMN BLESSING
\nMay the Father who chose Mary from among all women
\nto be the mother of His only-begotten Son
\nfill you, at her visitation, with the joy of the Holy Spirit.

\nMay Christ, hidden in the Church today
\nas once in the womb of the God-bearing Virgin,
\ncontinue to touch you by His presence in word and sacrament.

\nMay the Holy Spirit who filled Elizabeth with joy
