V.  O shepherd of Israel, hear us; You Who lead Joseph like a flock (Ps 79:2).<br \/>\nCOLLECT<br \/>\nAlmighty and merciful God,<br \/>\nlet no works of worldly impulse<br \/>\nimpede those who are hastening to meet Your Son,<br \/>\nbut rather, may the teachings of heavenly wisdom<br \/>\nmake us the companions of Him Who lives and reigns with You<br \/>\nin the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nGENERAL INTERCESSIONS<br \/>\nFor the holy Church of God, the new Eve;<br \/>\nthat she may put on forever the beauty of the glory from God<br \/>\nand gather to herself children from East and from West,<br \/>\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near.  (Pause for silence.)<br \/>\nFor the leaders of nations and all public servants;<br \/>\nthat, gifted with knowledge and all discernment,<br \/>\nthey may approve what is excellent<br \/>\nand protect what is good,<br \/>\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near.  (Pause for silence.)<br \/>\nFor those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit,<br \/>\nand for those who are clothed in the garments of sorrow and affliction;<br \/>\nthat the glorious Advent of Jesus Christ<br \/>\nmay fill them with joy and with the promise of unfading beauty,<br \/>\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near.  (Pause for silence.)<br \/>\nFor the Roman community of the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem<br \/>\nand for ourselves;<br \/>\nthat we may walk safely on level ground<br \/>\nin the light of the glory of God,<br \/>\nand the shade of the fragrant tree of the Cross,<br \/>\nlet us pray in silence \u2014 for the Lord is near.  (Pause for silence.)<br \/>\nCOLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS<br \/>\nO God of beauty and of glory,<br \/>\nWho wonderfully created the first Adam, clothing him in light,<br \/>\nand more wonderfully still clothed the new Adam<br \/>\nin the imperishable splendour of the resurrection;<br \/>\nmercifully grant that we, exiled children of Eve,<br \/>\nmake take off the robe of mourning and misery<br \/>\nto be wrapped in the cloak of justice,<br \/>\nand be found pure and blameless for the Day of Christ<br \/>\nWho is Lord forever and ever.<br \/>\nOFFERTORY ANTIPHON<br \/>\nGR<br \/>\nYou will turn, O God, and bring us to life,<br \/>\nand Your people shall rejoice in You:<br \/>\nshow us, O Lord, Your mercy,<br \/>\nand grant us Your salvation (Ps 84:7\u20138).<br \/>\nPRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS<br \/>\nBe pleased, we beseech You, O Lord<br \/>\nby our humble prayers and sacrificial offerings,<br \/>\nand since we can plead no merits of our own,<br \/>\nlet the protection of Your pardon come to help us.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<br \/>\nPREFACE<br \/>\nTruly it is right and just, our duty and our salvation,<br \/>\nalways and everywhere to give You thanks,<br \/>\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,<br \/>\nthrough Christ our Lord.<br \/>\nWho in His first advent, having taken on the lowliness of our flesh,<br \/>\naccomplished the work You proposed long ago<br \/>\nand opened for us the way of eternal salvation;<br \/>\nso that when He comes again in the glory of His majesty<br \/>\nwe may behold at last completed<br \/>\nthe promised work for which we now keep watch and dare to hope.<br \/>\nAnd so with Angels and Archangels.<br \/>\nwith Thrones and Dominations,<br \/>\nand with all the powers of heaven,<br \/>\nwe sing a hymn to Your glory<br \/>\nand ceaselessly proclaim:<br \/>\nCOMMUNION ANTIPHON<br \/>\nGR<br \/>\nArise, O Jerusalem, and stand on high; and behold the joy that shall come to you from your God (Bar 5:5; 4:36).<br \/>\nPRAYER AFTER COMMUNION<br \/>\nFull-fed with spiritual nourishment,<br \/>\nwe humbly beseech You, Lord,<br \/>\nthat by our partaking of this mystery<br \/>\nYou would teach us to weigh wisely the things of earth<br \/>\nand to cling to those of heaven.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Station at the Roman Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem Today&#8217;s stational church is the home of my own monastic community, Santa Croce in Gerusalemme.
