The text, though inspired by something  written by a friend many years ago, is my own.  The image is a detail from a fresco in the choir of the monastery of Santa Maria di Monteluce in Perugia; it depicts Christ and Mary, that is, Christ the Bridegroom and His Bride the Church.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nCome, Bridegroom Christ, outdazzle day:<br \/>\nCome, clear our clouded sight to see<br \/>\nYour living Word in every seed,<br \/>\nIn labour&rsquo;s fruit, eternity.<br \/>\nCome, nurture what your hand has made;<br \/>\nCome, bring to birth what you have sown:<br \/>\nIn each day&rsquo;s labour, Christ, be seen,<br \/>\nSeed, Blossom, Fruit, of all we own.<br \/>\nCome, now descend from mountain heights,<br \/>\nCome, leaping, seeking, calling still.<br \/>\nYour birth to heaven wedded earth;<br \/>\nLet heaven&rsquo;s praise the earth now fill.<br \/>\nCome, Bridegroom Christ, the Father&rsquo;s joy,<br \/>\nCome, mark your own with Kiss of Fire.<br \/>\nYour bride still dark, yet lovely, waits;<br \/>\nUnshadowed shines her one desire.
