Like the Vespers hymn below, it may be sung to the corresponding tune in the <strong>Liber Hymnarius<\/strong>.  I would be happy to know if any <strong>Vultus Christi<\/strong> readers decide to sing these texts.<\/em><br \/>\nIn desert wastes, the Baptist&rsquo;s voice<br \/>\nLike thunder pealing from the sky,<br \/>\nDenounces sin, announces Fire,<br \/>\nUnmasking darkness where it lies.<br \/>\nNow let the fearful soul arise,<br \/>\nLest poisoned by the viper&rsquo;s sting,<br \/>\nThe hour of grace should pass her by:<br \/>\nThe advent of the Lamb, the King.<br \/>\nInto death&rsquo;s cold and shadowed vale<br \/>\nDescends the Lamb from heaven&rsquo;s height.<br \/>\nAnd those who wait in silent hope<br \/>\nAre stirred from slumber at the sight.<br \/>\nWhen in the sky his Cross appears,<br \/>\nThe triumph of the Lamb will shine.<br \/>\nAnd all who wait in joyful hope<br \/>\nWill rise to greet the glorious sign.<br \/>\nTo God the Father, ceaseless praise<br \/>\nAnd to the Lamb who shares his throne,<br \/>\nAnd to the Spirit in the Church,<br \/>\nthe Bride whom Christ yet calls his own.
