CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>That like Saint Cecilia, those who are persecuted for the sake of Christ<br \/>\nmay always carry the Gospel of Christ in their hearts<br \/>\nand persevere in constant prayer;<br \/>\nand that all who suffer may find hope in the prayer of the Church,<br \/>\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>That, helped by the prayers of Saint Cecilia,<br \/>\nthose who are dedicated to singing and making music to the Lord,<br \/>\nmay serve and foster the full and conscious participation in the liturgy<br \/>\nin assemblies where beauty is at home,<br \/>\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>That Benedictine nuns the world over<br \/>\nmay find in Saint Cecilia the image of their own vocation:<br \/>\nto prefer nothing to the love of Christ,<br \/>\nsinging his praises<br \/>\nand meditating his Word day and night,<br \/>\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>That we, having been led by Christ into the desert<br \/>\nmay so listen to him who speaks to our hearts,<br \/>\nas to be found awake and watchful when he comes,<br \/>\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>COLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS<br \/>\nO God, by whose grace,<br \/>\nCecilia sang to you in her heart<br \/>\neven in the hour of her suffering,<br \/>\nmercifully grant that we, like her,<br \/>\nmay cling always to the Gospel of your Christ,<br \/>\npraying ceaselessly by day and by night,<br \/>\nready to greet the Bridegroom with lighted lamps<br \/>\nwhen he comes in the midst of the night,<br \/>\nand go into the wedding feast with him<br \/>\nwho is Lord forever and ever.<\/p>\n<p>OFFERTORY ANTIPHON<br \/>\nGR<br \/>\nAfter her shall virgins be brought to the King:<br \/>\nher companions shall be brought to you<br \/>\nwith gladness and rejoicing:<br \/>\nthey shall be brought into the temple<br \/>\nof the King, the Lord (Ps 44:15-16).<\/p>\n<p>PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS<br \/>\nLord, receive the worship that, in our lowliness,<br \/>\nwe set forth before you<br \/>\non this memorial of the virgin martyr, Cecilia;<br \/>\nby this spotless offering,<br \/>\ngrant that we may be set ablaze<br \/>\nwith a love that is both tender and holy in your sight.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n<p>PREFACE<br \/>\nTruly it is right and just, our duty and our salvation,<br \/>\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,<br \/>\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,<br \/>\nas we celebrate the day<br \/>\nwhen Saint Cecilia received the martyr\u2019s blessed crown.<br \/>\nShe consecrated herself as a bride to Christ<br \/>\nin fidelity of heart and the shedding of her blood<br \/>\nand as a virgin achieved the martyr\u2019s death.<br \/>\nChrist, the pure offspring of a holy Virgin,<br \/>\ndrew her with such surpassing love<br \/>\nthat, remaining chaste in body and spirit,<br \/>\nshe bore without fear both torment and death<br \/>\nfor the sake of his name.<br \/>\nRejoicing for her, now glorified in heaven,<br \/>\nwith angels and saints we acknowledge you as Lord<br \/>\nand sing the ageless hymn of your praise:<\/p>\n<p>COMMUNION ANTIPHON<br \/>\nGR<br \/>\nThe five wise virgins took oil in their vessels with the lamps:<br \/>\nand at midnight the cry went up:<br \/>\nBehold, the Bridegroom comes:<br \/>\ngo forth to meet Christ the Lord (cf.
