CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<br \/>\nCOLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS<br \/>\nLord God of Hosts,<br \/>\nwho clothed Martin the soldier with the spirit of sacrifice,<br \/>\ngraced him as a monk with the gift of ceaseless prayer,<br \/>\nas a priest with reverence in the celebration of your mysteries,<br \/>\nand as a bishop with courage for the defense of the catholic faith;<br \/>\ngrant us, by your gift, so to walk in his footsteps,<br \/>\nthat, at the last, we may be welcomed in paradise<br \/>\nthere to sing your praises<br \/>\nin the company of the Angels and Saints.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<br \/>\nOFFERTORY ANTIPHON<br \/>\nGR<br \/>\nMy truth and my mercy shall be with him;<br \/>\nand in my name shall his horn be exalted (Ps 88:25).<br \/>\nPRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS<br \/>\nLord God, we beseech you<br \/>\nhallow these gifts we offer in honour of your holy bishop Martin,<br \/>\nand let our lives, through them,<br \/>\nbe guided always in adversity and in prosperity.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<br \/>\nPREFACE<br \/>\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,<br \/>\nalways, here and everywhere, to give you thanks,<br \/>\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,<br \/>\nas we praise you for the example of Saint Martin,<br \/>\na glorious servant of Christ your Son.<br \/>\nHe prepared eagerly to receive the grace of baptism<br \/>\nby showing an exemplary love for the poor.<br \/>\nHe rejected the rewards of military service<br \/>\nin order to serve Christ, the only true Lord,<br \/>\nin the humble pursuit of monastic life.<br \/>\nChosen by you as bishop of your flock,<br \/>\nzealous for the true faith and love of the Church,<br \/>\nMartin became a model of spiritual strength for all.<br \/>\nAnd so, with all the citizens of heaven<br \/>\nwe join with him to acclaim your glory<br \/>\nin this, their ceaseless hymn of praise:<br \/>\nCOMMUNION ANTIPHON<br \/>\nMR 867<br \/>\nAmen, I say to you, as long as you did it<br \/>\nto one of these my least brethren,<br \/>\nyou did it to me, says the Lord (Mt 25:40).<br \/>\nOr:<br \/>\nGR 491<br \/>\nBlessed is that servant,<br \/>\nwhom when his Lord shall come<br \/>\nhe shall find keeping watch:<br \/>\namen, I say to you, he shall place him over all his goods (Mt 24: 46-47).<br \/>\nPRAYER AFTER COMMUNION<br \/>\nLord, grant us<br \/>\nwhom you have refreshed by the sacrament of unity,<br \/>\nperfect union with your will in all things,<br \/>\nso that just as Saint Martin submitted wholly to you,<br \/>\nwe too may, in all truth, glory in being yours.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<br \/>\nSOLEMN BLESSING<br \/>\nMay the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ<br \/>\ngrace you, on this feast of Saint Martin,<br \/>\nwith an honest readiness to do his work<br \/>\nand a perfect submission to his will.
