\nThe Lord made to him a covenant of peace
\nto be the prince of his people
\nthat the dignity of priesthood should be to him forever (Sir 45:30).

\nwho never permit the gates of hell to prevail against your Church,
\nfounded on the rock of the Apostles,
\ngrant, we beseech you,
\nthrough the intercession of Pope Saint Leo,
\nthat, standing upright in your truth,
\nshe may be strengthened by a lasting peace.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

\nThat the Church in Rome and throughout the world
\nmay be graced with humility and governed by charity,
\nso as to prevail against the assaults of evil

\nThat those who are shaken in their faith may be upheld;

\nThat young artists and artisans imbued with the spirit of the liturgy
\nmay continue the work of the Saint Leo League
\nfounded by Adé Béthune in Newport, Rhode Island,

\nof the goodness, truth, and beauty of Christ,

\nBehold, I have given my words in your mouth:
\nlo, I have set you over the nations, and over kingdoms,

\nPRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
\nBy the gifts of our offering, Lord,
\nwe beseech you: graciously illumine your Church,
\nthat your flock may prosper in every place,
\nand its shepherds, under your guidance, be pleasing to your name.
\nThrough Christ our Lord.
\nPREFACE
\nTruly it is right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways, here and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
\nThree times your Son Jesus Christ asked Peter if he loved him,
\nbefore finding him worthy to be the Shepherd of his sheep.
\nIn succession to Peter, Christ chose Saint Leo,
\nto be Bishop of the Roman Church,
\nto preside in charity over the universal assembly of believers
\nand, made strong in faith himself,
\nto strengthen the faith of his brothers and sisters.
\nAnd so, united with him and in the joy of his memory,
\ntogether with all the angels and saints,
\nwe raise the hymn of your praise:

\nPeter said to Jesus:
\nYou are Christ, the Son of the living God.
\nJesus answered: You are Peter,
