\nI saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem,
\ncoming down out of heaven from God,
\nprepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Rev 21:2).
\nOr:
\nBehold the tabernacle of God among men!
\nHe will dwell with them,
\nand they shall be his people,
\nand God himself with them shall be their God (Rev 21:3).
\nCOLLECT
\nO God, who out of chosen and living stones
\nprepare an eternal dwelling for your majesty;
\nincrease within your Church
\nthe spirit of grace which you have given,
\nso that your faithful people may assemble in ever greater numbers
\nfor the building up of the heavenly Jerusalem.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
\nGod, forever and ever.<\/p>\n

\nFor the holy Church of God throughout the world;
\nthat the Bride of Christ may be the joyful mother of many children,

\nFor the bishop of Rome, Benedict, our Pope,
\non this Dedication festival of his cathedral church;
\nthat he may rejoice in the unity of the whole Body of Christ,
\nassembled in the Holy Spirit, to the glory of the Father,

\nFor the leaders of nations;
\nthat they may respect the right of believers everywhere
\nto assemble for worship in freedom of conscience and peace of heart,

\nFor all who suffer in body, in mind, or in spirit;
\nthat they may experience the living Temple of the Body of Christ
\nas a place where beauty is at home,
\na place of divine hospitality, of healing, and of mercy,

\nFor ourselves;
\nthat we may grow in love for the Temple of the Body of Christ,

\nGod of holiness and majesty,
\nwho have brought us not to what may not be touched,

\nO Lord God, in the simplicity of my heart
\nI have joyfully offered all these things;
\nand I have seen with great joy your people who are here present:

\nPRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
\nReceive, we beseech you, O Lord, the gifts we offer,
\nthat those who pray to you
\nmay experience the power of these sacraments
\nand obtain what they desire.
\nThrough Christ our Lord.
\nPREFACE
\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
\nBy your bountiful gift,
\nyou have deigned to dwell in this house of prayer,
\nso that, warming us by the unfailing help of your grace,
\nyou might fashion us into a temple of the Holy Spirit,
\nshimmering with the splendour of a life acceptable to you.
\nBy means of buildings that eye can see
\nis revealed the Church, the Bride of Christ,
\nmade holy by your ceaseless workings,
\nuntil, as the joyful mother of countless children,
\nshe takes her place amidst your glory in heaven.
\nAnd therefore, with all the Saints and Angels,
\nwe praise you together, and endlessly proclaim:

\n“My house shall be called a house of prayer,”
\nsays the Lord.
\n“In it all who ask will receive,
\nand he who seeks will find,
\nand to him who knocks it will be opened” (Mt 21:13).

\nO God who willed
\nthat the Jerusalem which is above
\nshould be foreshadowed for us in the sign of your Church on earth.
\ngrant, we beseech you,
\nthat, by partaking of this sacrament,
\nwe may become the temple of your grace,
\nand be admitted to enter the dwelling place of your glory.
