\nAt the end of the homily today I prayed Blessed Elizabeth’s prayer; her text has a way of establishing the soul in silence. After Mass the faithful came forward to venerate the relic of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity. I am always moved by the tenderness and faith that people bring to the veneration of holy relics. One senses the nearness of the saint in the most remarkable way.<\/em><\/p>\n

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
\nMR
\nThis is a wise virgin, and one of the number of the prudent
\nwho went out with lighted lamp
\nto meet Christ on the way.<\/p>\n

COLLECT
\nGod of bountiful mercy,
\nwho revealed to Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity
\nthe mystery of your secret presence
\nin the hearts of those who love you,
\nand chose her to adore you in spirit and in truth;
\ngrant through her intercession,
\nthat we also may abide in the love of Christ,
\nand merit to be transformed
\ninto temples of your life-giving Spirit,
\nto the praise of your glory.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
\nGod, forever and ever.<\/p>\n

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS
\nThat the Church, the beloved Bride of Christ,
\nmay everywhere witness to His love
\nby the beauty and fragrance of her holiness,

That the leaders of nations,
\nwhile working for justice and seeking reconciliation,
\nmay put their trust in the power of God to deliver from evil
\nand establish peace in every human heart,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n

That those who find themselves in a dark night,
\nin emptiness or in helplessness
\nmay fix their gaze on the light of the Eternal Word
\nand never withdraw from His radiance,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n

That, through the intercession of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity,
\nsouls may go out of themselves to cling to God alone
\nand, like her, abide in an adoring silence
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n

That inspired by the example of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity,
\nwe may implore the descent of the Holy Spirit, the Consuming Fire,
\nso as to become for the Eternal Word another humanity
\nin which He can renew His whole mystery,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n

\nwe set before you, O Lord,
\non this memorial of the blessed virgin, Elizabeth of the Trinity;
\nby this spotless offering,
\ngrant that we may be set ablaze
\nwith a love that is both tender and holy in your sight.

PREFACE
\nTruly it is right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
\nthrough Christ our Lord.
\nChrist spoke to the heart of your virgin,
\nBlessed Elizabeth of the Trinity,
\nand was received by her as a welcome guest,
\na beloved bridegroom espoused in steadfast faith.
\nFather, in this way do your wise virgins
\nprepare themselves and stand with lamps alight,
\nkeeping watch with longing for Christ your Son,
\ntheir greatest and highest desire and love.
\nAccompanying Christ, they praise him,
\nwho is one with you and the Holy Spirit,
\nthe glory of angels with whom we are united
\nin this, their ageless hymn of praise:<\/p>\n

\nOne thing I have asked of the Lord,
\nthis will I seek after;
\nthat I may dwell in the house of the Lord
\nall the days of my life (Ps 26:4).<\/p>\n

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
\nMay the sacred reception
\nof the Body and Blood of your only Son,
\nturn us away from passing things, O Lord,
\nthat by the example of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity
\nwe may be able to grow in unfeigned love for you on earth,
\nand in heaven rejoice in the endless vision of your glory.
