We ask that the Church, being ceaselessly renewed, and thus conformed to the image of Christ, may show forth His Face to the world: <em>Christi se imagini conformans, ipsius vultum mundo valeat ostendere.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ENTRANCE ANTIPHON<br \/>\nMR<br \/>\nI will visit my sheep,<br \/>\nand I will set up one shepherd over them<br \/>\nand he shall feed them,<br \/>\nand I the Lord will be their God (cf. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>That, like Saint Paul,<br \/>\nwe may burn with desire to be with Christ<br \/>\nand, like Saint Charles,<br \/>\ndemonstrate an effective and generous love of the Church,<br \/>\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.<\/p>\n<p>COLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS<br \/>\nAlmighty and ever-living God<br \/>\nwho, by the humility and wisdom of Saint Charles,<br \/>\nrenewed the Church of Milan<br \/>\nand demonstrated the fruits of the Council of Trent<br \/>\nin a wonderful flowering of purity and holiness,<br \/>\ngrant us, we beseech you,<br \/>\na willing obedience to the voice of the Spirit<br \/>\nin the communion of a Church unchanging in her faith<br \/>\nand ever open to reform.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n<p>OFFERTORY ANTIPHON<br \/>\nGR<br \/>\nI have found David my servant,<br \/>\nwith my holy oil I have anointed him:<br \/>\nfor my hand shall help him,<br \/>\nand my arm shall strengthen him (Ps 88:21\u201322).<\/p>\n<p>PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS<br \/>\nLook, O Lord, upon the gifts set forth upon your altars<br \/>\nin memory of Saint Charles<br \/>\nand, by the power of this sacrifice,<br \/>\ngrant that as you raised him up<br \/>\nby the watchful care of his flock and the splendour of his virtues,<br \/>\nwe too may abound in the unfeigned fruits of good works.<br \/>\nThrough Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n<p>PREFACE<br \/>\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,<br \/>\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,<br \/>\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,<br \/>\nin this commemoration of your bishop Saint Charles<br \/>\nwhose ministry you have so gloriously rewarded.<br \/>\nYou gave him to the Church as a vigilant pastor,<br \/>\na lamp shining your light in the darkness of this world,<br \/>\na priest fired by the immensity of Christ\u2019s love;<br \/>\na mirror of strength, a pattern of justice for the flock.<br \/>\nBy your generous gift he led your sheep<br \/>\nwith diligent care safely to the sheepfold,<br \/>\nand in days of trial an danger<br \/>\nsustained them with zeal and love.<br \/>\nAs we recall with admiration the life and works of this generous bishop,<br \/>\nwe exult to sing your greatness<br \/>\nand with all the creatures of heaven<br \/>\nwho rejoice in the contemplation of your face,<br \/>\nwe raise the hymn of ceaseless praise:<\/p>\n<p>COMMUNION ANTIPHON<br \/>\nMR<br \/>\nBlessed is that servant whom the Lord when he comes<br \/>\nand knocks at the door, shall find watching (cf.
