\nEternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
\nand let the radiance of your light shine forever upon them (cf. 2 Es 2:35).
\nV. To you our praise is due in Zion, O God.
\nTo you we pay our vows, you who hear our prayer;
\nto you all flesh will come (Ps 64:2-3).
\nCOLLECT
\nO God, glory of the faithful and life of the just,
\nby whose Son’s death and resurrection we are redeemed,
\nshow forgiving mercy to your departed servants,
\nthat, as they came to know the mystery of our resurrection,
\nthey may be found worthy of receiving
\nthe joys of eternal blessedness.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

\nFor the Church, the mystical body of Christ;

\nthat having received the light of Christ in holy Baptism,
\nthey may pass through the gates of death

\nFor the leaders of nations;
\nthat, delivered from temptations to greed and the abuse of power,
\nthey may look to God for salvation and peace,

\nFor those who mourn the death of loved ones;
\nfor the abandoned elderly;
\nand for the lonely, the sick, and the dying;

\nFor all of us assembled here;
\nthat, following the teaching of Saint Benedict,
\nwe may yearn for eternal life with all possible spiritual desire,
\nand find in the Eucharist the antidote for death,
\nand the food that makes us live forever in Jesus Christ,

\nLord Jesus Christ, King of glory,
\ndeliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell
\nand from the bottomless pit.
\nSave them from the lion’s jaws;
\nlet them not be engulfed in hell
\nnor swallowed up in darkness.
\nLet Saint Michael the standard\u2013bearer
\nbring them into that holy light which thou didst of old
\npromise to Abraham and his posterity.
\nV. Lord, in praise of thee we offer sacrifice and prayer;
\naccept them for the good of those souls
\nwhom we call to mind this day.
\nLord, make them pass from death to life,
\nwhich thou didst of old
\npromise to Abraham and his posterity.
\nPRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
\nAlmighty and merciful God,
\nby this sacrifice, cleanse in the Blood of Christ, we beseech you,
\nyour departed servants from all their sins;
\nand having washed them in the water of baptism,
\npurify them unceasingly with the pardon of your lovingkindness.

\nPREFACE
\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,

\nIn him there has dawned for us
\nthe hope of a blessed resurrection,
\nso that those who are saddened by the certainty of dying,
\nmay be consoled by the promise of the immortality to come.
\nThe life of those who are faithful to you, Lord,
\nis but changed, not ended;
\nand when their earthly dwelling place decays,
\nan eternal home is made ready in heaven.
\nTherefore with Angels and Archangels,
\nwith Thrones and Dominations,
\nand with all the hosts of heaven,
\nwe sing a hymn to your glory as we ceaselessly proclaim:

\nSOLEMN BLESSING
\nMay the peace of God,
\nwhich is beyond all understanding,
