\nI feel now that I am beginning to be Christ’s disciple;
\nI desire none of those things which are seen,
\nif so be I may find Christ Jesus.

\nor wild beasts, or breaking of my bones,
\nor sundering of my members,
\nor destruction of my whole body,
\nyes, and all the torments of the devil,
\nif only so be I may win Christ.

\nWith Christ I am nailed to the cross
\nand I live, now not I;
\nbut Christ lives in me.
\nI live by faith in the Son of God

\nACT OF PENITENCE
\nBrothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
\nthat we may be ready to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
\nYou give utterance to the words of the Father’s truth.

\nYour Flesh is the Bread of God.
\nChriste, eleison.
\nYour Blood is love imperishable.
\nKyrie, eleison.
\nMay Almighty God have mercy on us,
\nand lead us, with our sins forgiven,
\ninto eternal life.
\nCOLLECT
\nAlmighty and ever-living God,
\nwho by the confession of the holy martyrs
\nbeautify the sacred body of your Church;
\ngrant, we beseech you,
\nthat just as today’s glorious passion
\nbrought Saint Ignatius eternal splendour
\nso may it work unto our continual defence.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

\nFor the holy Church of God throughout the world;
\nthat all the faithful may live in harmony with their bishops,

\nFor the leaders of nations;
\nthat they may pursue the things that make for peace,

\nand for those who are destined for martyrdom;

\nthat like Saint Ignatius,
\nwe may approach the altar today
\nhungering for the Bread of God which is the Body of Christ,

\nwith which he embraced a martyr’s death,
\nbe nourished now for that eternal life

\nMay the offering of our devotion
\nbe pleasing to you, Lord,
\nwho accepted Saint Ignatius, the wheat of Christ,
\nmade into pure bread by the sufferings of his martyrdom.
\nThrough Christ our Lord.
\nPREFACE
\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
\nthrough Christ our Lord.
\nChrist called his martyr Ignatius into glory
\nand through the wounds of his martyrdom
\nled him to the palm of a heavenly reward.
\nAs Christ’s true witness in holiness
\nhe freely laid down his life to die for Christ,
\nknowing that in glory his body would arise.
\nHe chose to die to this world
\nrather than to be separated from Christ,
\nperceiving that here he had no abiding city
\nbut looked for an unfading inheritance in heaven.
\nAnd so, on his feast day
\nwe join with him to adore you
\nand in the company of angels and saints
\nwith whom he shares the vision of your glory
\nwe proclaim your majesty in their joyful hymn of praise:

\nI am the wheat of Christ,
\nground fine by the teeth of wild beasts,
\nthat I may become his pure bread (Ign. Rom 4).

\nLord, may the heavenly bread
\nwhich we have received on the birthday of Saint Ignatius
\nrefresh us and make us Christians
