\nThe Collect formerly used for the feast of Saint Bruno breathes the spirit of compunction that animates all who seek the Face of God. I give it here for that reason:
\nMay the prayers of Thy holy confessor Bruno
\ncome to our aid, we pray Thee, Lord;
\nso that we who have grievously offended Thy majesty
\nby our transgressions
\nmay obtain pardon through his merits and intercession.<\/em>
\nENTRANCE ANTIPHON
\nGR
\nOf you my heart has spoken: “Seek his face.”
\nIt is your face, O Lord, that I seek;
\nhide not your face from me.
\nV. The Lord is my light and my salvation,
\nwhom shall I fear? (Ps 26:8\u20139, 1)
\nCOLLECT
\nO God who called Saint Bruno
\nto serve you in solitude,
\ngrant, through his intercession,
\nthat, amidst the changes of this world,
\nwe may seek you always, and with all our heart.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
\nGod, forever and ever.<\/p>\n


\nGENERAL INTERCESSIONS
\nThat, following the example of Saint Bruno
\nand the monastic family he founded,
\nthe Church may bear witness to the Cross of Christ,
\nplanted in the heart of a restless and changing world
\nas the sign of redeeming love, unchanging and ever new,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
\nThat all world leaders of good will
\nmay open their hearts to the needs
\nof the poor, the vulnerable, the elderly, and the oppressed,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
\nThat, helped by the Blessed Virgin Mary,
\nthose who are alone in life may discover in their solitude
\nan opportunity to seek the face of God
\nand to experience intimacy with him,

\nThat the sons and daughters of Saint Bruno,
\ntogether with all who have heard a call to solitude,
\nmay keep watch for the return of the Lord
\nstanding ready, in joyful hope, to open when he knocks,
\nto the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.
\nThat it may be given us to imitate the virtues of Saint Bruno,
\nespecially his goodness,
\nhis obedience to the Pope,
\nand, above all, his love of God in the silence of contemplation,

\nAlmighty and ever-living God,
\nwho called Saint Bruno into the solitude of the desert,

\nto root every restless heart in the stability of the Cross of Christ,
\nthat, together with God-seeking men of every age,
\nwe may rejoice in the revelation of your love,
\nunchanging and ever new.

\nWho shall ascend unto the mountain of the Lord,

\nMost merciful God,
\nwho, in Saint Bruno,
\ndeigned to make an end of the old self
\nand to create a new self according to your own desire,
\nmercifully grant
\nthat we also, renewed in like manner,
\nmay offer this, the acceptable sacrifice of our atonement.

\nPREFACE
\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways, here and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
\nthrough Christ our Lord.
\nIn response to the call of Christ,
\nSaint Bruno lived out the mystery of salvation
\nalone and in the ceaseless prayer of the desert.
\nBy your gift of grace,
\nother lovers of solitude came to follow his example,
\nand, like him, chose to hide themselves far from the world
\nto seek God in purity of heart
\nfor the sake of the Body of Christ, the Church.
\nFor this gift of your benevolence,
\nunited to the Angels and Saints,
\nto you we lift our voices
\nand together sing the ceaseless hymn of your glory:
