\nMR
\nFrancis, a man of God, left his home and gave away his wealth to become poor and in need. But the Lord cared for him.

\nIt is for us to glory in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ
\nin whom is our health, life, and resurrection;
\nthrough whom we have been saved and set free (cf., Gal 6:14).
\nV. With all my voice I cry to the Lord,
\nwith all my voice I entreat the Lord (Ps 141:1).
\nCOLLECT
\nO God, who bestowed upon Saint Francis
\nthe grace of being configured to Christ
\nin poverty and humility,
\ngrant that by walking in the same path,
\nwe may follow your Son,
\nand be joined to you in the joy of charity.
\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
\nGod, forever and ever.<\/p>\n


\nCOLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS
\nAlmighty and ever-living God,
\nwho, when the world was growing cold,

\nmay be inspired by the Little Poor Man of Assisi and, by his prayers,
\ndiscover the language of reconciliation, and the road to peace,

\nThat those who suffer infirmities of the body,
\ndarknesses of the mind, or tribulations of the spirit,
\nmay, like Saint Francis, lift their eyes to the Crucified Jesus

\nThat the children of Saint Francis
\n\u2014friars, Poor Clare nuns, and layfolk\u2014
\nmay count the wisdom of this world as foolishness,
\nand ever seek the perfect joy of the Cross,

\nThat we may be preserved from coldness of heart
\nand inflamed with the love of the Crucified
\nthat burned in the heart of Saint Francis,

\nMy truth and my mercy shall be with him:

\nLord, as we offer you our gifts,
\nwe pray that we may be rightly prepared
\nto celebrate the mystery of the Cross
\nto which Saint Francis held fast with such burning love.

\nPREFACE
\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
\nthrough Christ our Lord.
\nYou exalted your servant Francis
\nthrough sublime poverty and humility
\nto the heights of evangelical perfection.
\nYou inflamed him with seraphic love
\nto exult with unspeakable joy
\nover the works of your creation.
\nYou branded him with the sacred stigmata,
\nand so gave us the image of the crucified Jesus Christ our Lord.
\nThrough Him the choirs of angels and all the powers of heaven
\npraise and worship your glory.

\nthat by imitating the apostolic charity and zeal of Saint Francis
\nwe may experience the effect of your love,
