\nwho meditates on the law of the Lord day and night;

\nin the land of exile (Ps 118:54).

\nYour promise is sweeter to our taste
\nthan honey in the mouth (Ps 118:103).

\nwho gave your priest Saint Jerome
\na sweet and living passion for Sacred Scripture,

\nThat, by the reading and study of the sacred books,
\nthe Word of God may speed on and triumph,
\nand the treasure of Revelation entrusted to the Church,
\nmore and more fill the hearts of the faithful,

\nThat the leaders of nations
\nmay seek the things that make for peace,
\nespecially in the Holy Land of Jesus’ birth

\nmay seek and find him in the Sacred Scriptures;

\nIt is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
\nalways, here and everywhere to give you thanks,
\nLord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
\nWe proclaim you wise and wonderful
\nwho by making your Word resound,
\nhave revealed to us the design of your love.
\nBy your grace,
\nSaint Jerome so deeply penetrated the divine Scriptures
\nthat out of this treasure
\nhe was able to dispense wisdom ancient and new,
\ninspiring us by his example,
\nceaselessly to seek Christ, the living Word, in the sacred page.
\nAnd so, we joyfully unite ourselves to him, now blessed in heaven, and to all creatures,
\nto sing, O Father, your praises,
\nin the everlasting hymn:
