2026 Anniversaries

As we did last year, we once again offer you some significant dates related to saints and holy persons. This post follows upon a two part series on the joyful faces of holy people. Part 1; Part 2.

January 22: The 125^th anniversary of the death of Saint Alberto Hurtado.
January 23: The centenary of death of Cardinal Mercier, friend of Blessed Columba Marmion, and ardent devotee of Mary as Mediatrix of All Graces.

February 3: The 75^th anniversary of the death of the Servant of God Mother Yvonne-Aimée, a great mystic of the 20^th century.
February 11: The 150^th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Eugénie Joubert.
March 18: The 150^th anniversary of the death of Venerable Leo Dupont, miracle worker and apostle of the Holy Face.
April 6: The 300^th anniversary of the birth of Saint Gerard Majella. Also, the 125^th anniversary of the birth of Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati.
April 26: The 125^th anniversary of the birth of the Servant of God Sr. Mary of the Holy Trinity, whose beautiful writings share much in common with the “Little Way” of Saint Thérèse.
May 1: The 75^th anniversary of the death of Servant of God Takashi Nagai.
May 9: The 300^th anniversary of the death of the Servant of God Sr. Rosemary Serio.

May 23: The 75^th anniversary of the death of the Servant of God Emil Kapaun.
June 8: The centenary of death of St. Mariam Thresia Chiramel.
July 15: The 150^th anniversary of the death of Blessed Anne-Marie Javouhey.
July 16: The 125^th anniversary of the birth of Mother Yvonne- Aimée.

Jul 28: The 75^th anniversary of the death of Pauline Martin (Mother Agnes), Saint Thérèse’s sister.

August 24: The 200^th anniversary of the death of Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret. Also, the centenary of Saint John of the Cross being declared “Doctor of the Church” (thanks to Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange, among others).

October 3: The 800^th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

October 5: The centenary of death of Saint Bartolo Longo.
November 21: The 175^th anniversary of the birth of Cardinal Mercier.November 29: The 800^th anniversary of the coronation of Saint Louis IX as King of France (aged 12).
December 14: The 150^th anniversary of the death of Saint Mary Frances Schervier.

December 31: The 150^th anniversary of the death of Saint Catherine Labouré.
