Jane Mossendew Fulthorpe, R.I.P.

We learned only today with great sadness of the death of our friend, Jane Mossendew Fulthorpe, wife of Colin Fulthorpe. Jane died on 13 August 2017 in a residence for the sick and elderly in the Charente, France. She had, for several years, been in declining health until finally becoming incapable of writing or even of holding a conversation. Jane Mossendew was raised as an Anglican and converted to Catholicism in 1959. In 2006, after a career in education, Jane retired from London to her home and garden in southwestern France. Jane’s gardening was shaped by the cycles of the liturgical year; she devoted several books to this subject. Jane took to heart deeply the invitation addressed to women in 2007 from the Congregation for the Clergy, inviting women to become spiritual mothers of priests by committing themselves to adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. She was a woman of extraordinary piety and insight. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
