The Church Forever Young
18 August 2007
Here are the novices (wearing the white scapular) of the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz in Austria. Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting the abbey next month. Heiligenkreuz is famous, among other things, for the splendour of the sacred liturgy.

Those photos warm my heart.
Deo gratias!
Don Marco, Thanks for posting these pictures of the novices of Heiligenkreuz. I saw them the other day on their web site and was struck by the grace God has given to that community. The principal of attraction is a work here: Happy religious attract more happy religious. Of course, I wonder why the Cistercian life in the USA is so very dreadfully small and slow to catch on…. Perhaps God has other plans for the Cistercians in this country which don’t include the charism of the O.Cist. The good news, however, is that the Cistercian nuns in Wisconsin are getting vocations. Too bad for the monks???!!!
You may have noticed that Heiligenkreuz is making a foundation in Sri Lanka. May be they’ll consider a foundation in the USA since no other Cistercian abbey is up for the challenge.
Saint Bernard and all Cistercian saints, pray for us.
Look at how many novices they have!
makes me wanna be a cistercian.
