Holy Abandonment to the Father

Into His Hands

Turn all things over to my Father and yours. As soon as a person, a situation, or a thing begins to weigh upon you, and cause you anxiety, refer it to my Father and abandon it entirely into His hands.
Nothing glorifies my Father more than the total self-abandonment of His children to His faithful and tender love.

The Father Is Close

The Father cares for you, not merely in a general way by controlling the course of events from afar, but in a profoundly personal way by His presence to you in all the circumstances of daily life.
At no moment is the Father distant from you or unavailable to you. At every moment His providence and His mercy are there for you. Give every care of yours into my Father's hands and go your way in peace of heart, trusting that He will attend to it and cause all things to work together for your ultimate good.

Make reparation for the offences against my Father's goodness that are committed by those who refuse to trust Him. Nothing so grieves my Father's Heart as the refusal to trust Him and to rest secure in His love.

The Cross

For this did I come into the world and suffer death on the Cross: so that all would see in me the way of abandonment and obedience to the Father, even unto death.

Three Steps of Abandonment

First, believe in my Father. Then, imitate me by receiving the Father's love and by looking to Him for all things. Finally, abandon into the Father's hands every anxiety, fear, and need, trusting Him to care for you, and praising Him in advance for the wonders wrought by His faithful love and paternal providence.

From In Sinu Iesu, The Journal of a Priest

Dear Fr. Mark,

Thanks so much for this posting. I reminds me very much of Bl. Charles de Foucauld's prayer of Abandonment to the Father. Brother Charles was certainly a man who demonstrated his faith and love in a spirit of total abandonment to the Will of our Father.

Is "In Sinu Jesu, The Journal of a Priest" available? I would love to have a copy. Please let me know if it is in, or going to be in, print.

Thanks again for the fruitful effort of your beautiful and uplifting site.

In Christ,
Kenneth Kafoed
