Dear Spiritual Mothers, as you prepare for the opening of the Year of the Priest, be sure to visit Adoro Te (here) where you will find a magnificent reflection on spiritual motherhood for priests.

Fr. Mark - would you be able share the history of the image on this medal? I purchased an antique (late 1800's or early 1900's) missionary mass time/location dial last fall which has this same image on one side of it. I had never seen the image before and now I see it once again. Thanks very if you can help!

Also now your postings have been a blessing to me for the past two years, too!

The medal was designed by French artist Fernand Py (1887–1949). It depicts the priest vested for Mass, aided by the Church/Our Lady/the Spiritual Mother to lift the chalice to Our Lord's pierced side, from which flows the Blood and Water. The text is drawn from the Rite of Ordination to the Priesthood: "Receive the power to offer sacrifice to God."

Thank you, Father, for the information. God bless!

Dear Fr. Mark,
What would be the most precise Latin translation for "spiritual maternity of priests"?

Thank you for your help. May God bless you!

Dear Fr. Mark,

As a suffering servant of Our Lord for the past 3 years with an incurable disease and devoted prayer life to the charisms of your Order: the Rule of St. Benedict, Eucharistic Face of Jesus, Crucified Christ, Our Lady of Fatima, and intercessory prayer for priests, I am interested in becoming a Spiritual Mother of Priests. I was delighted to find this website, and I will start reading your writings and begin my prayers while I await your answer.

God Bless You,
Judy from Michigan
