On the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, Wednesday 12 September, I will be leaving Connecticut to be of service until the end of November to the Benedictine community at the Monastère Saint-Benoît in Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne, France. I will be flying Swissair, New York to Geneva, and then traveling over the Jura Mountains into the Franche-Comté in eastern France to Nans–sous-Sainte-Anne. The village has 142 inhabitants and a number of cows. There is a lovely 16th century church. I hope that I will have internet access there. The village is remote! Does Vultus Christi have any readers in France? My address there will be:

Monastère Saint-Benoît
25330 Nans-sous-Ste-Anne

Have a safe journey, Father. God speed!

Father, I have to confess envy.

I heard that while you'll be flying New York to Geneva, Terry Nelson's gonna be flying Delta to Miami for a Canasta tournament. Oy, ve!

From the The Itinerary Office.

Let us pray: O God, who caused the Children of Israel to pass through the midst of the sea on dry ground, and who by the leading of a star opened to the Wise Men the way to Yourself, grant to Your servant, Father Mark, we implore You, a prosperous journey and fair weather that, attended by Your holy angels, he may happily arrive at Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne and finally attain to the haven of eternal salvation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen.

O God, who brought Abraham, Your servant, from Ur of the Chaldeans and kept him safely through all the days of his pilgrimage, we implore You that You would protect Your servant, Father Mark; be to him a Support in setting forth, O Lord, a Consolation along the way, a Shadow to him in heat, a Covering in rain, a Chariot in weariness, a Help in adversity, a Staff in dif?cult places, a Port in shipwreck, that with You as his Leader, he may prosperously reach Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne, and at length return home safely; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.

In Jesus Caritas,

Father Yohannes

Bon voyage mon ami! (That's French!) :)

I hope the blog continues.

United in prayer,

+Dear Father,

Our love and prayers accompany you. I shall pray the sequence of the Holy Spirit daily for your intentions (and ours!). May God keep you safe!
